The annual National Cycle to Work Day saw its 5th anniversary in 2017. St Hugh’s promoted this event to its staff for the first time on Wednesday 13th September as part of its Health Promotion programme and intend to make it an annual drive.
With little preparation time leading up to and storm weather on the day, successful uptake was limited so the participation period was extended to the whole week following the 13th September. Participation was much improved with this extended period and with more preparation time for 2018 it is hoped this will grow to promote the uptake in commuting to work by cycling.
Grimsby’s Cycle Hub: Dr. Bike was brought on to site to offer free cycle checks for staff to make their bikes roadworthy and an additional prize draw of a £50 Amazon voucher for participating staff commuting to work on their bikes. Hopefully 2018 will be an even bigger success.
